Charles Taylor Dinner Event Was Special!

The Evening – The 25th Charles Taylor Dinner was held Saturday night (12-16-17) at the Crowne Plaza in Asheville. It was a great time from start to finish. The tempo, speakers, content, and atmosphere were all A+. Thanks to Trish Smothers, Deborah Potter, the Taylor family and all the great people who made it happen. Bonus – the meal, staff and service were absolutely exceptional!

The speaker – John Bolton is a smart, classy and courageous gentleman. He has a deeper eye on realism – excelling in international challenges – and he tenders his view with an even-handed and understandable touch. Pictured are Vice-chair Bill Lack and Member-at-Large Andrew Brooks with Mr. Bolton. Extra thanks to MC Michelle Hix from Cherokee and Speaker of the House Tim Moore.

Special recognition – Buncombe County resident David Morgan was singled out for Congressman Taylor’s annual American Eagle Award for Business. David and his secret key to success – Katrina – have a long history of laying a great touch on our community. Their current focus – The Asheville Tribune – is the only reliable and consistent conservative information resource in our area. We at the BCGOP are grateful for the weekly opportunity David and Katrina provide to share our take on the issues. Congratulations David!

The fund raiser – At the end of the evening, David Morgan did the honors in drawing the winning ticket for our latest BCGOP fundraiser – a Biltmore Estate themed gift basket with over $400 of goodies. Brevard Republican/Conservative/Christian extraordinaire Sammy Kicklighter was the winner and accepted the basket on the stage. In his quietly conservative way, Mr. Kicklighter (Chair of the Transylvania Republican Party) has been consistently supportive of the BCGOP’s new leadership team and our efforts to build on the works of our predecessors. David assures us the drawing was not rigged and that Sammy is not Katrina’s first cousin or his children’s godparent.

Though she has dodged the recognition – credit is due to our Secretary – Linda Humphries – for creating and executing this great effort. Along with her extra-involved fund-raising team — Angela Phillip, Patsy Gardin, and Anita Metcalf – we had a number of Executive Committee members who picked up the challenge of selling 5 tickets and laid their individual hand to assuring success. Thanks to Charles Taylor, Trish and his able team for allowing us to finish our drive on a great note. An extra-special thanks to all who donated to the BCGOP for a chance to win!

We now have an additional $2,500+ to put to good use!
